here is how my first day went at puc:
ah...first day of classes. (i had a long day-10am-6:30pm!) but in japanese i learned something that i never knew before about hiragana. the "r line" is really "L" because Sensei Kazue said that there are no "r's" in japanese. well the whole "r line" is pronounced la, li, lu, le, lo not ra, ri, ru, re, and ro! but im still confused about it and will ask more questions about it on thursday. here is a japanese hiragana and katakana chart in one.

about hiragana......
hiragana is just one type of writing system in japan (there are 3-hiragana, katakana, and kanji) hiragana is used for all native words in japan (katakana is used for foreign words). its basically a phonetic chart made up of symbols that can be put together to make words. (like the english alphabet)
more about hiragana when i buy my textbook!
here is video from youtube to help you pronounce hiragana!
